We'd been to Passau before and didn't think we needed all the time the coach option wold offer us there. We did the right thing, as it turned out, as this stretch of the river was just about the prettiest so far ....

| The is what the Schengen Agreement means in Europe. This is an old border post. We have been totally in Austria but now the border with Germany comes down to the river and into the middle of the flow. A local farmer seems to farm both in Germany and Austria! |

| The small gap in the trees gives a clue as to where the border runs up the hill with Germany on the left and Austria on the right. The cyclists on the right are in Austria while the one on the left is already in Germany! |
